“St. Methodia, the pride and protector of Kimolos, one of the Cyclades Islands in the south Aegean Sea, was born on Kimolos on November 10, 1865—three years after St. Savvas the New of Kalymnos. Her parents, Iakovos, a merchant, and Maria Sardis, were pious people. They had five daughters and three sons. Methodia was their second daughter. At Holy Baptism she was given the name of Irene. She was renamed Methodia later, when she became a nun.” —“Introductory”
